IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO READ BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR GROUP LESSONS!

NOTE THESE CHANGES FOR FALL LESSONS:
1) All families must be at the orientation week on Sept. 12th to take part in classes. We will be handing out schedules, 
maps, and showing everyone around and what will need to be done each week. Those who have already had the tour do 
not have to stay for that portion of the day.
2)All payments must be accompanied by the PAYMENT form.
3)Families will occupy the Fellowship Hall only while waiting for children at CCR. This room is for families to talk and do  school work during the day, also for little ones to play.
RULES FOR GROUP CLASSES
1. ALL students (even teenagers) must be with an adult or in class AT ALL TIMES.
2. Parents must REMAIN on the premises . You cannot drop off your child and leave.
3. Do not use ANY items belonging to the host church unless stated.
4. Nursing mothers may use the Nursing mothers room only during nursing and may have their other children in there with  them.
5. Be QUIET and do not RUN when inside the buildings.
6. If you have any problems or need help, please find the following people: Michele Boyer or Jeff Boyer
7. Each family  must  take a turn to either clean up or set up in the building one time during the seven weeks. Please 
choose either a SET­UP, CLEAN­UP or HALL MONITOR time slot when signing up for classes. There are FIVE HALL 
MONITOR slots to fill.
12:15 to 12:30  ­  SET­UP: moving tables/chairs & carrying items to prepare the rooms for classes. PLEASE NOTE: There
are very limited SET­UP slots available.
4:20 to 4:35  CLEAN­UP: straightening and moving back tables & chairs, dumping garbages, turning off lights, vacuuming, etc.
HALL MONITOR: Five total slots available.  Choose one period and monitor it every week for all nine weeks.

Information about choosing classes:
­ Classes vary in content, structure, requirements, time, fees, etc.
­ It is the parents' responsibility to select classes which would be most appropriate for their children.
­ PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTIONS, SO YOU WILL KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR & SO YOU WILL
KNOW WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING FOR EACH CLASS.
­ Grade levels are suggested, but usually are slightly variable by one or two years. IF YOU WANT TO SIGN YOUR CHILD 
UP FOR A CLASS THAT IS NOT YOUR CHILDS AGE OR GRADE LEVEL, PLEASE CONTACT MICHELE OR THE 
TEACHER TO MAKE SURE IT IS OK BEFORE CLASS SIGN UP OCCURS, PLEASE DON’T JUST SIGN THEM UP FOR THE CLASS.
­ Parents may visit classes at any time, but please do not bring younger children to class. Parents can not sit in a class 
every week unless it is a mom and me class or approved by teacher.
­ Sign up is on a first come, first served basis.
­ If a class is full, you may put your name on a waiting list OR choose another class, not both. Please do not call the 
teacher to have them fit you in, there may be other students already on the wait list that are ahead of your child.
­ If you want to make a change, please do so before the sign up deadline!
­ If you cancel after the deadline, there will be a $15 cancellation fee!

III. August 9th­ August 13th­ Any payment received between these dates is subject to a $5.00 late fee.
IV. August 13th ­ If payment is not received by this date, your family's classes will be canceled.
Please be responsible in submitting your payments on time! (If you have a family emergency, such as a death in the
family, please contact Michele Boyer for an exemption from the above late fees.) Irresponsibility is not an emergency!
V. Please make checks out to the individual teachers, do not combine them with another teacher. Even when teachers
have the same last name, they may not be related.  In addition, it is easier for me to separate and distribute the checks to  each teacher. You can combine multiple class payments as usual to the SAME teacher.

INFORMATION ON THE SCHEDULES
There is a small break of five minutes between the classes to allow students to change rooms and use the bathroom. 
Each block represents one class. Each block contains the following information: name of the class, age or grade level of 
students, name of the teacher, & total cost of the class per student for all weeks.
Descriptions of the classes are located on the pages following the schedules in alphabetical order for each location. Each
listing contains the name of the class, the name of the teacher, the age or grade level & the cost of the class. Each class 
time represents a class period, we have 5 total.

CLASSES:
 
Advanced Crochet(Ages 6­ Adult)($20)(9 weeks)Bethany Curtis
The yarn and needle will be included, any other yarn student would like to work with they can purchase on their own, size of needle needs to be ok'd by me because of projects we will be doing.   This is advanced crochet, must have taken 
classes or learned on their own: casting on, chain stitching and single and double crochet. We will learn more stitches as
need to complete projects. We will be completing 2­3 projects to give away as donations to certain orgnanizations(I will
have a list) and as gifts(your choice). I will be there to fascilitate, teach new stitches if needed and assist as needed.

Air Brushing(Grades 6­Adult)($40)(9 weeks)Jeff Boyer(Class will begin at 12:35)
Students will be learning about the basics of air brushing including cleaning, shading, volume of air needed, paints. They 
will learn how to draw on T shirts and well as other items. Students will need to purchase Newsprint paper from any art or  craft store to bring to class each week and use for practice. All airbrush equipment and paint will be provided by the
teacher. If a student has their own airbrush, they are welcome to bring it, but it is not necessary, one will be provided to  use during class.

All About the Alphabet(Ages 3­K)($12)(9 weeks)Mindy Sotomayor
In this class we will be learning about the letters of the alphabet and the sounds that each letter makes. We will also color handouts of each letter learned that day. All materials provided by the teacher.

Animals of the Oceans and Polar Regions(grades K­2)($25)(9 weeks)Kim Scott
Description including student requirements if applicable We will be using books and craft ideas from the Winterpromise 
Curriculum, Animals in their Worlds. This session we will focus on habitat science and talk about the miraculous design of  animals for their  purpose on  the  earth. Students should be  able  to sit  quietly and attentively and be  skilled  at basic  craftwork, such as cutting and following directions.

Art like the Masters(Grades 5­8)($18)(9 weeks)Rebecca Proietti(Class is 3:00­4:15)
In this class, students will be completing at least three projects including; a watercolor landscape, pastel sunflowers in Van  Gogh   style,   and   “painting   with   scissors”   like   Henri   Matisse.   Some   of   the   concepts  students   will   be   learning   include: collage, composition, horizon lines, and proportion. Of course I want to create a love of art in them most of all!! During the second half of the last class, the parents and the group, are welcome to the art show students will be putting on to  showcase their work from the semester.  ******* Student Supplies list: To keep costs down each student needs to purchase a twelve tube water color set, a 24 count pastel set, and a pair of scissors that can cut details. (Recommendations:  Amazon – Reeves 12 tube watercolor set @5.39 and Loew­Cornell chalk pastels 12 count @ 5.29) You do not need to  have these exact brands. They are just recommendations but please make sure your set has the same number of colors as I suggested.

Ballet(Grades K­5) ($12)(9 weeks)Michele Boyer
I have studied ballet, tap, Jazz, and pointe for 10 years at a competition level. Also taught classes before I was married 
and the last few years with Charity. All levels of children are welcome to join in to practice the study of ballet. We will be studying and reviewing the different positions, movements, arm positions, and much more. On the last day we will invite all  of the parents to come and watch a dance that the children will be working on throughout the weeks. Children need to  wear comfortable clothing and either socks or ballet slippers.

Beginning Crochet(Ages 6­ Adult)($20)(9 weeks)Bethany Curtis
This class is beginning crochet with no experience. The yarn and needle will be included, any other yarn student would
like to work with they can purchase on their own, size of needle needs to be ok'd by me. We will be learning casting on, 
chain stitching, single and double crochet. Students will move at their own pace. We will complete a project by the end of classes, difficulty depends on pace of class or individual student.

Beginning New Testament Greek(ages 11­adult)($18)Michael Scott
This course will introduce the student to Koine Greek, the language of the New Testament. Drills will focus on learning the  alphabet, vocabulary, and peculiarities of the language that will aid the student in being able to read the New Testament in  its original language.

Chess(Grades 5­12)($9)(9 weeks)Clay Bohnke(Class is 3:00­4:15)
Children will learn terms, rules, and different strategies of the game. They will also be participating in games.
Chinese Made Easy(Grades K­ Adult)($20)(9 weeks)Xiaoxue Cheng(Class will begin at 12:30)  This class is for those students who took the Chinese Made Easy class in the Spring of 2011. It will continue to finish  Chinese Made Easy for Kids textbook 1 and workbook 1 (Simplified Characters Version) as the text book and work book. Students should have the textbook 1 and workbook 1 ready before our first class.

Children Around the World series: Europe(Grades 3­6)($20)(9 weeks) Kim Scott (Class will begin at 12:45)
Geopgraphy and Culture Study of Europe. This session we will be looking at the land, brief history, culture and family life  of children from various countries in Europe. Stories, map work, crafts, recipes, dvds for visuals will be experienced and compiled into your student's travel diary. The basic format and travel diary will repeat in future sessions studying other  regions around the world.

Country Dancing (Ages 10 & up) ($10) (9 weeks) Allison Gerwitz
This class is open to boys and girls! Come join us for a fun time of dance! We'll be learning various dances from three 
types of country dancing. English Country dance, from the 1700s and early 1800's, the type of dance seen in Jane Austen
movies. Civil War/Nineteenth­Century dance, like the Virginia Reel. And Contra dance, a more modern variation of older  dances, which started gaining popularity in the 1950's and 1960's. These types of dance are both good exercise and a
chance to make friends and have fun. If you can walk forward and know the difference between right and left, then you 
can do this dance! Both beginners and those with previous experience are welcome. Please wear comfortable clothing
and shoes, and consider bringing a water bottle.

Culinary Arts ­ Technique Essentials(Grades 6­12 FIRM)($25)(9 weeks)Suzanne Glann
This class is for middle school ­ high school...please keep it to those that are currently having to report practical arts and 
have the maturity to handle sharp knives. For high school credit ­ if there is interest I could do a second part in the  spring 
to complete a 1/2 unit elective course in culinary arts (class time, plus home practice to equal 1/2 unit of credit) We will  cover classic techniques including the basic bechamel, vinaigrette, yeast breads, the creaming method, classic sofrito, quick breads, pasta making, and tortillas/flat breads. Because there is not a kitchen to work in, this class will only practice  the techniques, which will be illustrated by the teacher and then students will practice the preparation. Some things (such as bread dough) will then be brought home to complete. Other things, like making pasta or tortillas can be completed in  class. The finished dish will be brought in by the teacher for tasting each class, to offer as a reference.

Elementary Poetry 1(Grades 3­6)($20)(9 weeks)Vanessa Verhagen
In this class we will explore different types of poetry through reading and writing. We will work on rhyming, free verse, 
acrostics, limericks, haiku, and more. This will be time to express ourselves, be creative and let your imagination loose!
Please feel free to bring pens, pencils (color ones too) highlighters or markers. Anything you would like to use to jazz up 
your writing.

Elementary Poetry 2(Grades 3­6)($20)(9 weeks)Vanessa Verhagen
Each week in this class we will explore a different form of Poetry writing. We will read model poems and then create our own poems. This will not be a repeat of class 1. Class 1 is also not required to take before taking this class. Poetry writing can be started anywhere. This will be time to express ourselves, be creative and let your imagination loose! Please feel  free to bring pens, pencils (color ones too) highlighters or markers. Anything you would like to use to jazz up your writing. If students choose to take both classes 1 & 2 I will offer a $5 discount on total($35 for both).

Each week, we will create a Christmas gift.

Fiction Writing(ages 13­adult)($18)(9 weeks)Michael Scott
This course will provide the student a sturdy foundation in writing fiction. Lessons will focus on point of view, character 
development,   plotting,   setting,   pacing,   dialogue,   and   options   for   publishing   (comparisons   of   traditional   publishing,   e­-publishing, vanity and print on demand).

Fun with Crafts (Grades 1­5)($20)(9 weeks)Michele Boyer
Come and let your creativity juices flow with various craft projects that includes projects for holiday gift giving, projects  about different countries, fall & winter crafts, and more. All materials will be provided by the teacher.

Fun with Numbers(Ages 3­K)($12)(9 weeks)Mindy Sotomayor
In this class we will be covering numbers 0­20. Some very simple addition will be added as well as worksheets for the
children. All materials provided by the teacher.

Geography Center Games(grades 3­6)($10)(9 weeks)Kim Scott
This class utilizes Geography centers from Evan­Moor. Students will work independently on a different geographical topic 
each week, by playing a file folder game. 13 Topics include, maps, grids, lat. and long. lines, regions of the US, compass 
rose, earth's landforms, bodies of water, US landmarks, etc. Toward the end of the session if students have finished all the  available folders I will bring geography board games and trivia games to close out the session. Students should be fluent  readers and writers. The games include answer keys and I will be milling around available for answering questions, but not to lead a student through an entire game.
 
Gingerbread House and More(Grades K­Adult)($22)(9 weeks)Darrien Boyer (Class will begin at 12:45)
This class is going to be a fun and creative way for individuals or families to get ready for the holidays. We will be making  trains, trees, people, houses and more throughout the 9 weeks. We will be able to leave the projects in the room to dry  each week so they don’t fall apart on the way home. If you have more than 1 child in the class they can all work on the same project together or do individual projects. Please specify which you will choose to do during sign up. Please make sure that if your child is younger and it may be difficult to work on these projects by themselves, that they have help from an adult. All materials will be provided by the teacher.

Graphic Design 101(Grades 9­Adult FIRM)($40)(9 weeks)Ken Huth
Ken has been a professional photographer for over 25 years and does graphic & web design for clients with his company 
WildIdea Design. Contact: ken@huthphoto.com with any questions. Cost $40 with book included (The Non­Designer's
Design  Book) Extra  student(sibling  or parent)  sharing book $17   Learn  computer  graphic design principles and  work
through increasingly complex projects like business cards, flyers & web banners. Students need good computer skills and
the ability to access the Internet at home/library. Each week students will learn principles in the class that they will be 
required to practice at home using two free online web sites (any fairly recent Mac or PC is fine), and bring their finished
work in via CD, thumb drive or printed copy. Students will learn to use the 4 principles of good design, to use typography 
well, to understand the basics of working with photos in design, and to clearly see a bad design and know how to fix it.

How a Nation Was Formed(Grades 2­5)($15)(9 weeks)Jeff Boyer
In this class we will be learning about the many presidents that helped form our country along with the states and how 
they became part of our nation. We will be doing projects, games, and work sheets. Please bring a pencil to class each 
week.

Intro to Latin(Grades 9­adult FIRM)($12)(9 weeks)Lisa Huth
If   you've   wondered   why   in   the   world   the   chemical   abbreviation   for   lead   is  Pb,   or  why  lb.   stands  for  pound,   or   why  \December is called December ­ it's all thanks to Latin! If you've ever used the phrase, "terra firma," you were speaking  Latin! A study of Latin is beneficial for English vocabulary, as well as learning other Romance (Roman­based, get it??)  languages like Spanish, French, and Italian. I had 4 years of high school Latin and will using "Latin Made Simple" by Doug  Julius as a resource. Handouts will be provided. Students should bring a folder or 3­ring binder and a pen/pencil.

Lapbook Lessons(Grades K­4)($15)(9 weeks) Jaime Willistein
Students will learn about and develop at least two (hopefully three – time permitting lapbooks) based on various topics:
Fall   –   includes   life   cycle   of   pumpkin,   hibernation   of   squirrels,   leaf   changes,   etc.   Frogs   –   includes   comparing   and contrasting using Venn Diagrams, metamorphosis, and identifying body parts. If time allows, we'll add a literature based  lapbook as well. Students enrolled in this class should be able to manipulate scissors independently and some reading skills would be helpful though not required.

LEGO Builders (Ages 7­12)($12)(9 weeks)Darrien Boyer
During this class you will learn to build a variety of Lego creations by taking part in fun challenges and competitions 
leading up to a bigger challenges that will test your Lego building skills. Children will need to provide their own Legos for
the class. Children will be working on projects in class and at home. They will be encouraged to work on the weekly
projects at home and may have an adult's help.

Life of Christ(ages 10­adult)($18)(9 weeks)Michael Scott
This course will introduce the student to a chronological overview of the life of Jesus, from his birth through resurrection  and ascension. Special attention will be given to the major events of His life, and will provide a useful context in which to  understand His teachings and miracles. Students should bring a Bible to class and a notebook.

Little Keepers of the Home (Ages 3­6)(9 weeks)($20)Suzanne Glann
Does your child aspire to be a daddy or a mommy some day? Little Keepers will help to develop these important skills. 
Each week we will complete activities that will include cooking, cleaning, laundry, driving (yes, it's true!), saving money,  shopping, caring for pets, planning a celebration, and ending with a party for parents and siblings to share how much  we've learned. There will be a "take home" project every week. Best suited for independent 3's ­ 6's.

(Mom and Me)Sing the Word in Sign Language(Any age w/ parent)($20 first child/$10 additional child)(9 weeks)Kim

We will work on learning to sign scriptures that are set to music for the purpose of scripture memory and building a sign
language vocabulary. Children of any age are welcome with a parent. Children should be able to sit quietly and follow
directions to participate. Practicing at home together during the week is recommended.

New York State History(ages 10­adult)($18)(9 weeks)Michael Scott
This course will give the student an overview of the history of New York State, beginning with the Iroquois Confederacy
through its founding as a Dutch colony, and then its transition via Westward Expansion to the Empire State we know today.
 
Organized Gym(Ages 8­11)($12)(9 weeks)Jeff Boyer
This class is a good way for boys and girls to let out some energy and be active. Each week children will be participating
in different sports such as soccer, volleyball, basketball, and much more.

Peer Review(Ages 11­18)($8)(9 weeks)Mary Helen Santacesaria & Susan Santacesaria
This class is NOT a writing class. It is a critiquing class. This class is for students who are serious about writing, who 
already have substantial writing pieces to share, and who WANT constructive, peer feedback to help improve their writing. Students must also be mature enough to give/receive constructive criticism. E­mail access is highly recommended (so you don't have to print out copies of your work for the entire class) and should be sent to the teacher before the first class.

Photography 201(Grades 7­Adult FIRM)($20)(9 weeks)Ken Huth

No film cameras or cell phone cameras please.) Family will order and pay for several prints at the photo lab  (estimated additional cost $20) Student must be able to create a free account on flickr.com to submit assignments Looking at good photos online (parents should supervise)  Going outside during class to take photos  Optional: We'll do one bonus 'Photo Walk' with the student and any family member that wants to join in taking photos... This will not be during class time and is just for fun/experience.

Primary Intro to Music(Grades K­2)($18)(9 weeks)Michelle Trost
Students will experience & practice basic musical concepts through singing, instruments, movement, and listening.
Science Is... (Grades 1­4)($15)(9 weeks)Jaime Willistein(Class will begin at 12:45)  Using a great experiment based booked called Science Is, this class will allow children to "make" Science happen! Topics  such as physics, magnets, optics, and botany will be covered. Children should not be afraid to get a little dirty and be  comfortable working in groups. Scientific method will be discussed as we prove or disprove our hypothesizes. As the course goes on, the instructor may ask children to bring in some various things from home (recyclables like empty coffee cans or the like) so that each child can take home a project to share with the family!

Show­N­Tell(Ages 4­6)($10)(9 weeks)Elizabeth Lawson
Each week, the children bring one item from home to show to their circle of classmates and to tell us something about it. The goal for this class is to encourage each child's expression/vocabulary and to give the children opportunity to interact  together with new friends!

Sign Language(ASL)(Grades 4 ­12)($18)(9 weeks)Jeff Boyer
This class will be fun, easy to learn, and helpful for children amongst the deaf community. Children will be learning or 
reviewing   basic   sign   language   such   as   finger   signing,   numbers,   food,   emotions,   etc.   and   also   learning   how   to communicate with other hearing impaired individuals with simple words to sentences. We will also be learning how to sign to many worship songs No previous classes are required, but if you have taken them, we will be advancing what we learned last semester along with the music after a brief review.

Spanish I(Grades 1­5)($18)(9 weeks)Michele Boyer
We will be learning or reviewing Spanish letters, initial sounds, basic words, weather, animals, food, family, date, months, & more while playing games to recognize & memorize them. We will also be getting into simple sentences and having  short conversations. It is not required to have taken the spring class, but if you did, we will be reviewing what we learned  and then moving on. Please have children bring a pencil and folder to class each week, we will be working on worksheets  and have hand outs.

Stampin’ & Scrappin’(Grades 4­Adult FIRM)($25)(9 weeks)Michele Boyer
You don’t have to be experienced to get crafty in this class! We will be making many projects using stamps, scrapbooking
materials, embellishments and more. Students will also have access to my Cricut machine to help decorate the many 
cards, mini albums, gift bags, tags, and much more that we will be making in this class. Please bring a mono adhesive
runner with you each week to class, all other materials will be provided by the teacher.

Story Starters (Grades 2­5)($15)(9 weeks)Darrien Boyer
Calling all storytellers! This class will give your child the chance to explore their imagination in story. Children will be given  a topic and finishing it in their own perspective. Each week the children will get a chance to read their version of the  story  and share with other class mates. Each child will receive all of their children’s stories bound to take home on the last day. Children must be able to write on their own(with minimal help from the teacher for spelling) and bring a pencil every week.They will be doing different projects than the spring class, so if you have already taken the class, you will be doing new  things.

Theatre Skills (Grades 6­12 FIRM)($18)(9 weeks)Michele Boyer (Class will begin at 12:45)
I was a musical theatre major in school and participated in many plays throughout the years. In this class, children will 
have fun while learning Improvisation and acting skills. We will be doing commercials, small plays, skits, role playing, etc.  The   children   will   learn   to   work   with   others   in   groups   and   by   themselves   while   expressing   themselves.   Learning  memorization  and  writing  their  own scripts at  times.  Children  will  be  working  together to write and  put  on  a play  for everyone during the last class.

U.S. Constitution(ages 10­adult)($18)(9 weeks)Michael Scott (includes the cost of Textbook)
This   course   will   introduce   the   student   to   the   structure   of   the   Federal   Government   as   outlined   in   the   United   States  Constitution. Special attention will be given to the historical developments as the nation has grown since its foundation  following the American Revolution. A pocket Constitution is a necessary textbook. One will be provided for the student.

Wilton 1: Decorating Basics Cake Decorating (Ages 10 ­ Adult) (9 weeks) ($45/$15) Sarah Kenney(Class will begin at
12:30) *$45 including kit and book / *$15 if purchase your own(required: Decorating Basics kit and course book. No prior experience is needed to take this class. Sarah is a Wilton Method Instructor. Students will learn the WILTON method techniques to decorate cakes with buttercream icing and some icing flowers. Icing  ingredients will be additional.
